OUR STORY

Wayne Comer was always interested in design, even as a boy growing up in Snohomish County.

He earned his bachelor of arts degree in architectural space planning and design from the University of Washington in 1971, and put it to good use after graduating. He restored and renovated homes; did some interior design and landscaping; and worked and traveled for a design/decor and import business in Seattle with showrooms in several other cities in the U.S.

Finally, Wayne and his partner Darryl Thomas went into business for themselves, and Design Display Associates-Metro Blinds opened its doors in 1985, a full-service company specializing in interior design and window fashions. They loved the work and committed themselves to building their company and earning customer satisfaction.

Darryl passed away in 2000, but Wayne kept the business growing. He took on me Richard Sater as a new partner in 2007, in life as well as work.

I'm retired from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of service, a proud veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Wayne himself passed away unexpectedly in August 2019. His generosity, patience, and kindness, as well as his talent and skill, will be greatly missed.

I'm proud of the legacy established by Wayne and Darryl. Thank you, our customers and friends, for forty years of business and referrals. We couldn't have done it without you.

-Richard Compson Sater
